An Intergenerational Service Learning Project
"The fowls, which fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven, correspond to aspirations soaring beyond and above corporeality to the understanding of the incorporeal and divine Principle, Love" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 511:28).
Opportunities for CSN Guests, CSIRs, and Progressive Living Guests to work with Princeton Day School Students (PDS) - I've been in touch with Service Learning managers at PDS. They are interested in partnering with us to do an intergenerational learning project that would benefit both of our campuses. It would be FUN to build birdhouses!
Princeton University has a birding club. We could ask if they would like to visit Tenacre. Perhaps they could help us determine which birds live on our campus, and what houses we could build for them. For information about their club click here.
The Delaware Valley also has a birding club. Their members publish papers about birding in science magazines. We could find out if they would be interested in helping us determine the specific types of birdhouses to install in the variety of habitats we have on campus, for example: prairie, woodland, and residential areas. For information about the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club click here.
There may be students in Princeton University's School of Architecture who could suggest ideas for us about designing a home. For information about the School of Architecture click here.
Suggestions for places to install birdhouses on Tenacre's campus: near the settings in places that would be easy for Guests to see and easy for landscaping crews to work around. See map for other locations.
